Halloween

Another busy week to round off the term and without a doubt thehighlight has to be the amazing Halloween Bake Off that we had today. The entries were all outstanding, and in my eyes they were all winners! Such and talent and creativity; very well done toeveryone. The unsold cakes were taken by a parent for the Stroke Ward at the William Harvey Hospital and for the A and E nurses. I think you would agree they are very worthy recipients.
The money raised by PTFA events goes to providing the childrenwith those ‘extras’. One of the biggest things we use PTFA money for is to subside school trips. The cost of coaches is enormous and can often be the factor that would prevent us considering an outing. PTFA support gives us these opportunities. Coming up of course, we have a visitor booked in from the North Pole…he needs a little extra funds for his gifts, so the PTFA help him out too! Ho!Ho! Ho!
I loved the Lego Masters Challenge this week with Ruby and Rhinestone classes. I’m not sure who enjoyed it the most, children or parents…there was certainly some healthy competitive spirit in evidence.
I know Coral and Crystal Classes have celebrated Diwali this week. They made some lovely clay divas, and some most delicious looking sweets.
There were loots of spooky Halloween makes going home this afternoon after Golden Time; all in all fun seems to be had by everyone.
When we come back after the holiday we will be having a Maths week. Parents and Carers are invited to join us on Friday morning(3rd November) to look at how we teach maths; to look at some ofthe government tests that the Year 2 and Year 6 pupils take; to look at the resources we use; and to visit classes to see maths in action. It’s going to be great! Please come to the hall after the whistle has gone and we will start with a nice cuppa!
Don’t forget it’s winter uniform on our return to school. Only ouryoungest children, Diamond class, will be still in green polo shirts.Everyone else is expected to wear a white shirt and tie, grey or black trousers or skirts/pinafores, green cardigans or jumpers, red, green or grey tights, black shoes/boots and of course, long hairmust be tied back. We also ask that large fancy bows and hairdecorations are saved for birthday days. Thank you for your helpwith this.
May I thank you for your continued support over the last seven weeks and wish you a lovely break. Looking forward to seeing you all again on the 30th October.
Best wishes
Nicola Wood
