Greatstone Primary School Nursery

Maths week rocks!!!

This week has been amazing and so much has taken place. It was an absolute pleasure to welcome so many parents and family members into school this morning to see maths in action, I am thrilled by such a positive turnout and by the thoroughly positive comments from people. Thank you.
Talking of positive comments we had a member of the Shepway Schools Sports Trust work with Diamond class and some of our year 5 pupils as ‘leaders’. This is the email we received afterwards…”The reception children were brilliantly behaved and put their all into each activity station – also their teachers and TAs were also so positive with every child it was so heart warming to see their caring nature displayed to each child. The leaders where absolutely wonderful – they were excellent role models, put 100% enthusiasm into their coaching and did a fantastic job. Also I just wanted to say how polite EVERY child was when I was in your school today, they opened doors for me when I was carrying my equipment, said please and thank you and were all very smartly dressed. What a lovely atmosphere you and your colleagues have created, you should be very proud of your children”. And yes we are very proud!
We have also had some ‘you tubers’ visit school this week. This is a whole new phenomenon for me! Until this week I hadn’t heard of You Tubers, let alone know what they do!! But on Tuesday we welcomed the Knuckleball Twins…I suspect you have to be of a certain age for this to mean something and I am most certainly past that!! Do google them! The children had an amazing time learning a whole range of football skills, and again our visitors were very complimentary.
We also welcomed a storyteller who visited Ruby and Rhinestone classes and shared stories around a campfire…magical. Our children were praised for their good listening skills.
I’m not sure I’ve shared with you the amount of money raised at the Halloween Bake Off before the holidays…a fabulous £274.64 Huge thanks to you all.
Coming up we have Children in Need to look forward to. We are suggesting the children dress up as what they want to be when they grow up. This will lead into the following week when we will be having ‘Takeover Day’ and years 5 and 6 will have the opportunity to apply for the jobs that exist in the school. I wonder who will be our headteacher that day?!
Please check Parentmail as we have sent out Christmas dates today.
Well that was a long post…enjoy your weekend, stay safe with fireworks and we look forward to another week of work from Monday.
Best wishes
